Celebrate Independence Day at the Eugene Pro Rodeo!

Looking for the best way to spend 4th of July Weekend in Lane County? Head to the Eugene Pro Rodeo! Now in its 26th year, this favorite event helps celebrate our nation’s independence with the classic American tradition of ranching and horseback riding. Enjoy an action packed weekend filled with roughstock events, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, team roping, tie down roping and so much more from Saturday, July 1st, through Tuesday, July 4th. The rodeo is held at the Moving to Oregon Horse Center (90751 Prairie Road, Eugene). Come check out all the excitement! Do not miss the largest fireworks display in Lane County on the last day of the rodeo to celebrate Independence Day!

Challenge Your Horse to the June Trail Obstacle Course in Clackamas County!

Keep your horse happy, healthy, and challenged at the June Trail Obstacle Course in Clackamas County! Come to the Burnt Spur Ranch (42100 Southeast Locksmith Lane, Sandy) this weekend for some equestrian obstacle fun! Participating in such courses helps desensitize your horse and build mental and physical coordination between you and your horse for more successful riding into the future!

 

This fun course offers unconventional and classic obstacles. Enjoy a challenging ride amongst hula hoops, mattresses, push barrel, robot pony, rope gate, teeter totter bridge, trot polls, water box, and so much more!

 

Burnt Spur Ranch’s June Trail Obstacle Course will be held Thursday, June 22nd, through Monday, June 26th. Each session is 1 hour long and will be held between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm. Since each new session starts right at the top of the hour, participants must arrive 30 minutes before your session.

 

The cost is $30 per horse (cash only). There are 6 spots available per session. Please note that there is room for only 3 horse trailers at a time. Call Linda at (503) 668-9716 or email at lindakeeter@gmail.com to reserve your spot today!!

 

A helmet is required for all riders and your release waiver must be signed prior to removing your horse from the trail.

Triangle Lake Horse Camp

  • Campsites located on the southern end of Triangle Lake in Olallie Scenic area. The camp is set among lodgepole pines and mountain hemlocks. There is gravel parking pads that accommodate camp vehicles and horse trailers. Enjoy nearby horse riding trails, and areas for fishing and hiking.

    • $15 per night (single site)

    • $20 per night (premium site)

    • $5 per night for extra vehicle

Joe Graham Horse Camp

Riley Horse Campground

  • 14 campsites on Lost Creek, near Wild and Scenic Sandy River. The camp is located northwest of Mt. Hood. There are horse corrals in the forest near the campsites. Many horseback riding trails accessible from campground. There are also several recreational and sightseeing areas located nearby.

Big Meadows Horse Camp

  • 9 campsites near the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. There is a 4 stall corral, hitching rack, loading ramp, and stock water trough. Several miles of loop trails, including Duffy Lake Trail, Big Meadows Loop Trail, and Big Meadows Tie Trail, are accessed directly from the campground.

South Pyramid Horse Camp

  • Horse camp near the Old Cascade Crest and Middle Santiam Wilderness Trail Systems. There is a 12 horse permanent hi-line system at the centrally located base camp.

The National Mountain Trail Championship might still be months away but the Mountain Trail Schooling Show Series allows you to start enjoying the best equestrian sport now! Head over to the Moving to Oregon Horse Center (90751 Prairie Road, Eugene) this weekend, June 2nd through June 4th, for the Pacific Crest Mountain Trail Schooling Show Finals & Open Show!

 

 

The Oregon Horse Center will be completely transformed to replicate the rugged terrain of the Mountain Trail Course. The outdoor course will be created around the center’s natural pond and wooded areas. Each day of the show, the trail will change. Riders will love the challenge presented by this show. A variety of classes are offered to ensure that all skill levels can participate. Circuit awards will be presented daily. Mark your calendars for the U of O Open Show on Saturday, May 20th! Now is your chance to ride alongside the Equestrian Ducks! The Open Show will be held at the Moving to Oregon Horse Center (90751 Prairie Road, Eugene) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

The cost for individual classes is $9 per rider. The cost for unlimited classes is $46 per rider. See the schedule below to find out when each class will show. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Even if you aren’t participating, be sure to come out this day to see the show!

 

All proceeds from the event benefit the University of Oregon Equestrian Team. Let’s show our support for this great local organization who share our love of horses!

One of the best things about living in Western Moving to Oregon is the unparalleled natural beauty! With lush national forests, beautiful valleys, pristine waterways, and fun community parks, the great outdoors serves as an oasis for residents in our area. As equestrian enthusiasts, we spend a lot of time outside on trails and want to have a healthy, safe environment for us and our horses to enjoy. The annual celebration of Earth Day helps remind us of the importance of taking care of our planet and preserving it for us and future generations. Oregon residents love celebrating our state's natural beauty so it is no surprise that there are incredible community events occurring throughout the state to celebrate Earth Day.
